Sgt Tim Ansell fought with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a weapon to the throat of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver following a vehicle incident in the area in mid-2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.

"Policeman knifed," the officer stated over his communication device.

Bodyworn and vehicle camera recording released by the police department depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, run up to Sgt Foster from behind with a blade outstretched.

He struck the officer who tripped and went down to the pavement, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and attempted to subdue him to the pavement despite being repeatedly struck with the knife.
