Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials said they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.
An important official stated the attack made him stunned and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
