Prince William Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in South America
Prince William plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in Brazil next month, as announced by the royal household.
Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a gathering preceding the climate summit, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belem.
Father and son were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the United Kingdom administration.
Climate Leadership Commitment
The King has been a consistent supporter of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil before the COP summit.
Palace insiders have characterized the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as taking on an significant responsibility in "climate diplomacy".
Recent Engagements
The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were introduced to attendees such as environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.
This involvement included speaking alongside President Emmanuel Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco in recent months.

The climate conference will coincide with the prince's own Earthshot environmental awards, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the day before he attends the COP summit on the sixth of November.
In recent days the prince described the award contenders as "contemporary champions".
Royal Climate Legacy
The monarch has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the observation: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"I have spent a significant amount of my life trying to raise awareness about the critical dangers challenging our world over planetary heating, global temperature increases and species extinction," the sovereign addressed participants.
