Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: But It's Not the Car You're Hoping For

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole destination where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. However, whether players will actually want to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Simpsons vehicle everyone is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving The Homer—the famously flawed car Homer designed himself in the 1991 episode "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. Not even receiving the massive SUV, the enormous vehicle featured in the tenth season. Instead, fans will obtain the family's everyday beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this particular car has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the show. For those who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the sole cosmetic from the show arriving in the game. This limited-time event will also include a set of challenges to earn additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a official announcement, the challenges will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance worthy of acquiring the perfect donuts!"

Although the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is any indication, it appears players will also get wheels with a television displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts themed to burning tires and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event coincides with the extensive The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which brings a completely new playable area of the fictional town, in addition to a month-long seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on November 17th.
