Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Arrives, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Based on Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow
The movie will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
The company has a trio of new releases officially announced for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
